For a youthful family with two modest young children, architect Maxime Moreau and his MXMA Architecture & Style and design studio have designed a new property, setting up from a pre-present building characterised by thoroughly clean strains and a standard geometry, influenced by the modern-day movement of the 1960s. The setting up preferred by the consumers was a bungalow designed in a substantial eco-friendly location with experienced trees, in the Saint Laurent district, north of Montreal.

As architect Maxime Moreau explained, there was strong chemistry with the consumer proper from the start out, of South Korean origin and a significant style fanatic. Just after conference with the client, the demands of the family were clearly described and the attributes of the long term household were outlined. For illustration, it was made the decision that the residence, when concluded, would return the graphic of a single developing and not of a collection of assembled volumes, even if it was crystal clear from the starting that there was a require to expand the present developing. Furthermore, a roomy natural environment was made where by the complete family members could arrive jointly and live in close make contact with with character, even if the connection with the outdoors is mediated by the courtyard, which gets the best extension of the areas of the house toward the garden.

To fulfil the client’s needs, the architect in the beginning conceived the dwelling as a one significant box that contained each the volume of the pre-current bungalow, as very well as the new extension, consisting of the grasp bed room. Performing to successively subtract various features, in specific by doing away with the overall portion of the quantity corresponding to the courtyard opening onto the garden, the closing L form program was outlined. A decision that permitted purely natural mild to access all the numerous rooms of the house, when defining 4 principal regions and defending the large maple tree standing in the center of the garden. The children’s bedrooms, with a shared bathroom, ended up built north of the entrance, in the volume of the authentic building. Continuing alongside the same axis, we make our way into the extension of the house, exactly where the master bedroom is located, which incorporates a toilet and a dressing space. The significant sliding glass door in the bedroom provides immediate entry to the courtyard and subsequently to the backyard found on the south aspect of the house. The terrace that surrounds the two sides of the courtyard is yet yet another factor that mediates the route from the inside of to the exterior of the residence. The other aspect of the courtyard corresponds to the big residing region of the property, in which we discover the residing place, the kitchen and the dining space. Last but not least, on the west facet we discover the garage, jointly with other purposeful areas. In defining the colours and elements used in the interior, as perfectly as in the exterior of the household, the architect selected black for the metal components and the wooden. The color black, in actuality, has an important indicating in Korean tradition, a alternative that turned an expression of cultural id extremely pricey to the shoppers. In addition, the contrast among the black of the metal and the warmth of the wood, emphasised by purely natural gentle, contributes to that image of a protecting, heat shell that contains a treasure, a crystal clear reference to the identify decided on for the house.
